The Cantelmi Family has been in the Lehigh Valley retail hardware business for the better part of a century. Our stores are known for providing legendary customer service and a full range of products to a complete spectrum of customers—from do-it-yourselfers to full time contractors.

Placido Antonio Cantelmi, an Italian immigrant, started our hardware business at 507 Fourth Street on the South Side of Bethlehem in 1922 after having spent a few years working at a nearby paint store.

After multiple expansions into adjacent buildings over 65 years, in 1987 Placido’s son Louis and his grandson Rick decided to move shop 100 feet down the tree-lined block into Cantelmi’s current location, an 18,000 square foot former silk blouse mill at 521 E. Fourth Street.

In 2006, carrying on the tradition of growth, Rick took expansion to the next level by adding a second store to the fold. Across Northampton county in Forks Township, near Easton, our location at 1805 Sullivan Trail is almost twice as large as the original and carries an even wider array of products but still embodies the Placido's original philosophy of always putting the customer first.
